CPA Study Review Tips
ACE THE CPA EXAM
Not sure how to start? 10 handful tips to get you started!
Organize and create a revision schedule
It is advisable to note it down on a calendar or planner, this way you will be able to follow your plans strictly to be on track with your review.
Switch on a daily alarm as a reminder to study
It is not easy juggling a full-time job whilst reviewing for a major exam. Set an alarm that you deem would be suitable to study in that particular time to remind you automatically!
Clear that cluttered study area
Your mind needs to be in a proper state of mind, you don’t need another stress when you see that mess on the table. Ensure that you have enough space to lay out your study materials.
Be on the right mentality
You have to keep yourself motivated, continue to push and constantly remind yourself that this would be all worth it for the long run even though it is too stressful at the moment.
Keep a distance from social media
As tempting as it seems, it is important that you do not indulge yourself into Facebook, Twitter, Instagram etc. Take your studying period as a sacred time to focus solely on the CPA exam.
The 3 R’s
Revise, repeat and remember. It takes 21 days to form a habit and while you continue to review in this manner, the CPA exam would not be as challenging as it was before.
Weekly target
Create a checklist and set a target for yourself. By end of the week, check your checklist on what you have achieved during that week itself. Constantly look for an area for improvements so you could do better the following week.
Study with a highlighter
Read your notes with all the vibrant colors! However, do make sure you only highlight the main points instead of the entire page. Highlighting the main points allows you to skim and understand better.
Listen to EAA’s CPA review recorded audio
EAA offers a CPA online review that records each review session between the facilitator and students. Listen to it everywhere! Be it while commuting, driving, cleaning or even jogging. This would enhance your memory skills while you are doing something else!
The power of mantra
It is completely normal to lose focus; it is important to be aware when you lose track whilst studying. Repeat your personal mantra to achieve your objectives from taking this CPA exam. “I will push myself beyond the limits to ace the exam”
